Booking consultations

Consultations can be booked by writing to or calling us. One of our professional team will then contact you to discuss your requirements and to arrange a mutually convenient time for an appointment. Please note that the demand for appointments can be quite high at times, and the waiting list can extend beyond six months. Therefore, if you are looking for consultation about a particular event, such as an annual review, it is worth planning ahead.

Fees for consultations are payable in advance of the appointment. We regret that we are unable to keep appointments available where payment has not been made at least 14 days in advance.

When attending, it is helpful if you can bring any relevant documentation with you – such as prior assessment information, statements, annual reviews, correspondence with education or health authorities, etc.

Booking for training events at The Sarah Duffen Centre

Bookings for training events can be made on our ordinary order form, quoting the appropriate order reference shown with the descriptions for each event in this brochure. Alternatively, bookings can be made over the telephone. When ordering, it is helpful if you can indicate who will be attending and their role (e.g. parent, teacher, etc.). This enables us to prepare lists of participants in advance of the day.

Fees for workshops and conferences are payable in advance of the event. We regret that we are unable to keep bookings open where payment has not been made at least 14 days in advance.

Many of our workshops are designed to encourage participants to share their individual experiences. If you have any materials, such as practical samples of children’s work, that may help you to do so, then please feel free to bring it with you.

Food and refreshments are provided during workshops and conferences lasting more than one day. If you have any special dietary requirements, please inform us at the time of booking and we will be happy to accommodate them.

Booking for visiting workshops or lectures

Visiting lecture or workshops can be booked by writing to or calling us. One of our professional team will then contact you to discuss your requirements and to arrange a mutually convenient time for the event(s).

Please note that the demand for visiting lectures and workshops can be quite high at times, and the waiting list can extend beyond twelve months. Therefore, if you are looking for participation in a particular event, such as an annual conference, it is worth planning ahead.

The fees for visiting lectures and workshops range from £300.00 - £600.00 per day per person (including VAT), depending on the member of staff. In addition, travel, subsistence and accommodation expenses can be required if the travelling distance involved necessitates them. As stated in our Pricing Policy Statement (above), where parent groups or professional groups are seeking visiting lectures or workshops, we recommend that they aim to recruit as many participants as possible and levy a modest fee for attendance. In our experience, it is usually easy to cover the speakers’ fees and expenses and quite often results in a remaining surplus for the group.

Particularly with overseas events, where travel expenses also need to be covered, we encourage organisers to liase with other groups in their region to see if a series of events can be co-ordinated, across which travelling expenses can be defrayed. Obviously, where staff visit for a number of days, we can also be more flexible about fees.

Fees and major travel expenses (excluding minor, incidental expenses) for training and lecture services are payable in advance of the event. We regret that we are unable to keep bookings open where payment has not been made at least 42 days in advance (where international travel is required, we may require payment sooner, depending on the practicalities of obtaining flights, etc.).
