DownsEd Weekend Conferences for ParentsWeekend conferences offer the opportunity to attend a range of sessions covering a variety of topics. Subjects covered tend to be most appropriate for parents of babies and young children up to 8 years of age. Speakers from different professions provide the opportunity to share information and discuss parents concerns, with each session lasting one-hour. The weekend also offers chances for families to meet with each other and is relaxed and informal. A crèche for a limited number of children is available. Accommodation is arranged privately but the Centre can make recommendations and provide a brochure with descriptions and booking information for guest houses and hotels close to the Centre. For parents wishing to learn about single topic areas in depth, our whole day workshops are recommended (see below).
Topics: cognitive development health speech and language therapy early intervention computers literacy numeracy handwriting family adjustment behaviour statementing procedures Dates: 5th-6th September 1998 1st-2nd May 1999 4th-5th September 1999
