DownsEd AdviceLineParents of children with Down syndrome can contact The Down Syndrome Educational Trust for information and advice about a wide range of developmental, educational, behavioural and health issues. This can be done through a letter, e-mail, fax, or a telephone call. Telephone calls to the AdviceLine are usually restricted to specific hours. This may mean that a response to telephone query cannot be offered immediately. Written (post or email) requests for advice can sometimes be responded to more quickly. Although some matters may not be able to be resolved by correspondence only, we can offer advice about how best to get any additional assistance in your local area. If we do not have the expertise to answer a query, we can usually put you in touch with the appropriate specialist or organisation. The Down Syndrome Educational Trust currently offers this AdviceLine service free of charge. We do, however, encourage users of our AdviceLine to make a donation to help support the costs of the service, and to subscribe to Down Syndrome News and Update to receive regular updates on advice and services. We welcome calls from parents, grandparents or any other family member when a new baby is born and these calls will be responded to immediately if one of our senior staff is in available or as soon as possible thereafter.
