INTRODUCTION Down Syndrome Research and Practice is a multi-disciplinary journal that publishes original research papers and review articles to assist the international scientific research community and to inform parents and professionals involved in the care of those with Down syndrome of the latest scientific knowledge and its implications for good practice. Down Syndrome Research and Practice is published by The Down Syndrome Educational Trust (a registered charity in Britain), in association with The Centre for Disability Studies at The University of Portsmouth. Down Syndrome Research and Practice has an independent Editorial Board. Numerous countries are represented on the Editorial Board, which includes recognised experts in the variety of fields connected with Down syndrome. Three issues are published per year, each usually including at least four key papers. In addition, each issue includes an Editorial, Abstracts from recent research papers, and occassional book reviews. For further information:
